Plas Derwen, an 18th century country house lovingly restored by the Swallow family in the early 1980s has the added attraction of a former coach house and out buildings, including the double seater outside toilet although no longer in use of course The house was built in the late 1700s and was home to rectors of Corwen Church until 1982. A very important house for the local Parish, Birshops and other Church dignitaries visiting the area would have been accommodated here. So even during the early history of the house guests were able to enjoy the relaxed atmosphere Plas Derwen offers you to this day. It was originally a farmhouse and given as a gift to the Anglican Church Visit the local 12th century Church in the Corwen and you can become aquainted with names of Rectors who once lived here. Plas Derwen, with its magnificent setting inspired a well known Welsh author, staying here in the late 19th century, to write a historical account of Owain Glyndwr 13501416, the charasmatic Welsh Lord who ruled the borderlands between North Wales and England during the 14th century.
